Chant, Dance & Meditate | September 23-25, 2022
$350.00 – $450.00
(Shared or Tent Accommodation)
In traditional yoga, the practice of yoga postures, meditation, chanting, and sometimes dancing, have been considered mutually supportive practices. At this retreat we will follow in that tradition and combine all these practices to bring balance and joy to body, mind, heart, and spirit.
Chanting mantras opens the heart and allows the mind to flow toward the depth of our soul. So, when we sit in meditation afterward, the experience will be deeply magnified.
The great yogi and poet Kabir used to say that “as we breathe in that word (the mantra), it becomes our teacher” and it brings us into a deep flow of peace.
For this retreat, we have invited some of the best chant/kirtan artists of Western North Carolina, including JoJo Silverman, Chaitanya, and several others. The meditations and workshops on kirtan, circle dances, and the use of mantras will be guided by senior teachers from the Prama Institute community. The daily yoga classes will be both restorative and invigorative.
All chant/kirtan artist will create a communal experience of music and chanting of call and response. This is not a regular concert between performers and listeners but rather a participatory musical and vocal experience where everyone can partake in the vocal expression.
The food will be gourmet vegetarian with dairy and gluten free options. (Our chefs will also cater to other food sensitivities)
